The Toyota Prius Hybrid is a five-seater urban class C car that has been produced since 1997. In the US market, the Toyota Prius is available in two versions: Hybrid and Plug-in. The Hybrid's battery regenerates its capacity while the vehicle is in motion by recovering energy, while the Plug-in charges from an outlet. The first generations of the car were released as sedans, the next (from 2003 to 2015) as liftbacks, and starting from 2016, as fastbacks.

The additional motor kicks in at startup. Note: the all-wheel-drive version of the car is equipped not with a classic lithium-ion battery, but with a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery. It handles cold better. Therefore, all-wheel drive hybrids are more popular in the northern regions of America.
